Alzheimer's Disease

More than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia and is a life-altering, debilitating and fatal condition that attacks the brain. It can cause problems with vision, language skills, and emotional control, and the overriding symptom is progressive memory loss. Advancing age is a risk factor for Alzheimer's, and most patients who have the disease are over 65. Genetics can also play a role. Symptoms include memory loss – and as the disease progresses – confusion and inability to perform simple daily tasks.
